Three Rare Bases: Why We Built Our Menu Around Them
May 22, 2026 · The Fruit Room · 2 min read
Most smoothie shops start with whatever's cheap and available. We started somewhere else entirely: with three rare bases that almost never appear on the same menu. Açaí, sea buckthorn, and moringa are the foundation of everything we make, and choosing them was a deliberate act.
Açaí — the Amazonian classic
Harvested from palms deep in the Brazilian rainforest, açaí is the deep-purple berry that built the bowl craze. It's rich in antioxidants and healthy fats, naturally low in sugar, and endlessly versatile. For us, it's comfort and depth — the base that anchors our most-loved bowls.
Sea buckthorn — the rare one
If açaí is the classic, sea buckthorn is the outlier. This tart orange berry is notoriously hard to source, which is why we're the only spot in Vancouver pouring it. Bright, citrusy, and loaded with vitamin C and omega-7, it's the ingredient that makes people stop and ask, "what is that?"
Moringa — the miracle leaf
Known as the "miracle tree," moringa brings a vivid green, nutrient-dense punch — complete plant protein, iron, and antioxidants from leaf to glass. We blend it fresh so none of that vitality is lost.
One philosophy
Three ingredients, one idea: fresh fruit should never mean compromise. Each base is harder to source than the easy alternatives, and that's the point. When you order from The Fruit Room, you're tasting something deliberate — chosen for what it does for your body, not for what's convenient for us.
Three rare bases. Zero compromises.
